Be Your Own Biggest Loser

Here’s how to be your own Biggest Loser and have your own finale!

This past week has been one of winners …. American Idol, Celebrity Apprentice and of course The Biggest Loser. In case you aren’t familiar, The Biggest Loser is a television show. Overweight contestants attempt to lose the most weight to fight for a cash prize. and contestants leave home to stay at a Biggest Loser ranch and work with celebrity trainers hoping to transform their bodies, their health and their lives. Each week contestant go through a series of challenges and there’s a weigh-in at the end of the week. The goal is to lose the highest percentage of weight (or most weight) to become the Biggest Loser.

The season of The Biggest Loser lasts 20 weeks. That got me thinking. What could you accomplish with your health and fitness in that same time frame?

Here’s a few things I know that will help you celebrate your own Biggest Loser Finale in just a mere 13 weeks. Of course you’ll be pushing forward once you’re done and can compare your results with the contestants. Now, before I recommend a plan, just know, your results can be measured in many many ways.

  • Belt Loop notches (inches lost)
  • Clothing Size
  • Photos taken every 30 days
  • Amount of Energy you’re gaining
  • Confidence
  • Physical ailments subsiding
  • Better sleep
  • People commenting on your progress
  • Strength and Endurance each week

OK, here’s my recommendation for becoming your own contestant and success story!

  1. Make the decision you want to commit to a fitness and nutrition program for 13 weeks. Identify why you want to accomplish this? What will you be able to do when you are done? For example, if you are wanting to lose the beer gut, or 30 pounds, ask yourself why??
  2. Choose a workout program that fits your fitness personality, then shop at the link below

My wife is in love with Brett Hoebel, and I’m OK with that!

Many of you husbands out there would be outraged if your wife was in love with another man. However, I am just fine with my wife, Hillary, being in love with the creator of the phenomenal workout program called Rev Abs. She sees him almost every day as she puts in the DVD and pushes play.

This is a 90 Day program using something called “Abcentrics.” It’s a training technique that works your abs from 6 different angles. The workouts are fun, challenging and get results. You are constantly firing your abs by engaging your abdominal muscles during every rep of every exercise. I guess that’s why results come so fast! Of course nutrition plays a big part of it too, so that’s why many see results in 90 Days. Good thing there’s an eating plan included with the program.

It’s fun to watch Hillary challenge herself with the moves. She is currently doing the advanced version of this program called Full Throttle. I have not tried them myself, but I can understand why the pause button gets pushed from time to time!

My experience with Rev abs was interesting. Since I have been working out for years, I thought the beginning workouts of Rev Abs would be too easy.  I was quickly humbled by the feedback from my core muscles! I did go thru the first phase or the program at a faster pace than what was outlined, and jumped right into the second phase. Loved it. After I finished, I was actually able to complete Ab Ripper X (from P90X) from start to finish and wanted more! Now that’s saying something!!

One highlight that Hillary and I have in our memory book is the fact that we got to workout live with Brett at a Beachbody event in May of 2010. The passion Brett has for helping people get healthy and fit emanated as he described the moves, their reason and how they were created. For me, I was just happy to have been familiar with the moves well enough so I could lunge low as Brett did one of his famed Brazilian swing kicks over my head.

Middle-Aged and Feeling Better than High School Days

I “want” to say I am middle-aged. I mean, I’d hate to think I am beyond that because I certainly don’t feel like it. You see, I hide my true age through plastic surgery and Photoshop (Just kidding. Photoshop does work wonders though! Look at magazine models!).

Actually, I learned to reverse the age thing by revamping the way I treat my body and changing the way I look at life. I am 45 years old and continue to improve as each decade passes. I’m proud of that.

It’s not easy to stay consistent at something, but treating yourself by taking good care of YOU is a must. An absolute must.

There are so many things working hard to keep us from making that happen. So, retooling your mind to decide who is in control is the first step. It’s easy for others and circumstances to seemingly make our decisions for us, but at what cost?

Now, I’m not going to get on my soap box and tell you to get off the “poor me” bandwagon. You know you can do the things to get yourself healthy and fit. And, if you’re subscribed to this newsletter, you know how. You’ve seen and read testimonies. You’ve seen the tools I’ve suggested and the nutritional products to get results!

Hard work? Yes! Just tell yourself “bring it on!” Because you know what? You are surrounded by tons of support and know it can be done one day at a time. Ignoring it and doing nothing should not be an option. I don’t believe people set goals to treat themselves poorly, but you know what? I think it happens when people don’t put themselves first. Ignoring what needs to be done is similar to consciously deciding not to take care of yourself. (I hear my car and house applauding that statement when they are in need of repairs. Noted!)

It took me almost 40 years to figure that out. I let things slide for way too long. I’m just fortunate that I got clued in and took action. Each day, every day, a little bit better. And now, I am proud to be middle-aged and feeling better than my high school days!

What are you waiting for?

OK, so you got inspired in the wee hours of the morning when an infomercial for P90X, Insanity, Turbo Jam or Brazil Butt Lift came on the tube. The program was filled with energy and grabbed your attention. As you watched and listened to the amazing success stories you began to think, “I want that! I want that now! I can do that!” So… you ran to the phone because you didn’t want to call after the timer on the TV ran out or you’d miss out on the free gift! Plus… free shipping… well gotta love that.

Then you waited. A few days passed and you eagerly got your workout program. You began to panic a bit, but were also excited. “This could be life changing,” you thought. “Can I really do this?” you began to question.

You opened and ready the materials. Seemed to make sense, but somehow you figured you’d start “next week.” That way you could really read over the materials. You even decided to watch a few of the DVDs to see what they were really like. On a few you got up and did a few moves, but sat back down and skipped through the rest of the DVD.

The weekend came. You took measurements and embarrassingly took the dreaded Before photo. Day 1 came and you worked out. It was WAY HARDER than you thought. You hit pause a few times and skipped a few moves. Then Day 2 came. You were way sore, so only did a little. Day 3 was sore, so you skipped and thought you’d catch up on your rest day. The pattern repeated for a week or so before halting the sporadic workout schedule because of a small cold. The product sat there glaring at you well after the time you recovered. You thought about starting over again, but that’s as far as it went.

You shelved the product. Eventually you came to the conclusion that it didn’t work for you. Time went on and you kept growing and feeling less and less energetic.

How did doing nothing work for you? It wasn’t the program that didn’t work. You just didn’t give yourself a fighting chance. The time is NOW to turn it around!

You can do it! What are you waiting for? Dig out the videos, make a plan and stick to it for at least 6 weeks. Just 6 weeks! The soreness is short lived. The benefits are HUGE and the confidence immense.
