For instance, if a person needed to drop 100 pounds and expected to do so within four months, failure is imminent. However, if would be much easier for you to stay focused and push toward your goal if you were to set a realistic goal. This applies not only for the time it would take to drop weight but also the actual amount of weight that you need to lose. I say set the target and go for it, making adjustments along the way and acknowledging yourself for achieving benchmarks along the journey!

Whether you want to drop 10 pounds or 100 pounds, success comes from determination, persistence, and patience. Keep in mind that there are always plateaus during any weight loss journey. Even though I use the word diet, I do not like the term because it usually means depriving yourself and it’s temporary. So, let’s call it a “nutrition plan.” All nutrition plans offer benefits based on the types of food, preparation process, flavor, convenience, and expense. Therefore, if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, serious consideration would need to be given to nutrition plans that consist only of whole foods, require a lot of preparation time, or cost hundreds of dollars every month. As an example, someone at age 50 looking at a photo of a slim body from 30 years ago could have the opposite effect. Some weight might be lost without working out, but it would not be to the same level as adding fitness to your routine.
